I Am A Night Owl

Oh, the blinding lights of the sun

How you show the dust on my shelves

And the specks on my cheeks

Pushing us depressives to sleep and escape ourselves

Oh, the night time

How you shield and shade

The calmess that you bring

Emptying the streets of busying dismay

I hate the clock- it says “4PM”

I’m counting down the hours until the moon rises

I love the night time

The hoots and quiet animal surprises

It’s cool and quiet

No conversation, no lights to blind

I relax knowing everyone is sleeping

It’s night time I can unwind.

I adore the dark and grey

I’m not feeling guilty staying in

I’m safe in my own bubble

Now that night time has set in.
